Situated at the Yuli Township on the south bank of the Yellow River, Daimeishan scenic area is famous as the place where Queen Daimei of the Shang Dynasty became immortal through Taoism self-cultivation. Steep as the peaks and cliffs around are, the mountain top is a spacious natural meadow of evenness, on which the Daimei Village lies. The mountain has distinct four seasons with beauty of different styles. It is a fragrant place of blooming flowers and wild fruits besides over one thousand kinds of wild animals and plants. There is an area of Cliff Coffins on the Guigu Cliff where dozens of coffins are hanging there in the air, 200 meters below the mountain top, 500 meters above the valley bottom. With smooth stone walls nearby, how could people do this? It is still a mystery till now. Another wonder on the high misty Daimei Mountain is the sight of “sea of clouds” here. What’s more, there stands an ancient cypress tree down at the bottom of the mountain which has so large a trunk that it takes 7-8 adults hand in hand to give it a full embracement. Living through all the seasons of more than 4,000 years, the giant cypress tree laurelled as the “Emperor Cypress of the Daimei Mountain” is still flourishing and vigorous with its stretching branches into the sky and dense leaves.
